DmC: Devil May Cry Review

I don’t really know why Capcom decided that DMC was getting stale, I thought DMC4 was really good (even if a little repetitive). That being said the reboot wasn’t all that bad. Dante as a young rebellious teen is rather similar to his older counterpart but he is much friendlier and more helpful. Aside from his big appearance change he still handles and feels like older Dante.

The rest of the game feels about right for a typical DMC game as well. His moves are still very similar and there are a variety of weapons to choose from. One main difference is you can only use guns and Dante’s sword by default. There are two new types of weapons, angelic ones and demonic ones. They can be accessed by holding down L2 and R2 (PS3).

Dante also has magical whips and hook shots that help him get around. It definitely does have a slight Ninja Theory Ninja Gaiden touch to it. Vergil looks pretty fruity and rather different from his DMC3 version but his personality is pretty similar (albeit much politer). Dante doesn’t usually stick his head out for others or follow orders normally, but the new DMC looks and sounds great. It is pretty fun to play.

While Team Ninja seems to be taking Dante in a new direction it doesn’t look like a bad move..I wonder why Capcom didn’t do this themselves though.
